Mission accomplished (IOS240 challenge)
posted bystav
Mission accomplished even if we did run over by an hour. One of the toughest we have endured to date. Wilson was a star and travelled fairly well. TK kept him on the move when he needed to be and subued to the best of her abaility when required
This mission was not without some casualties though - namely, most of Matt and Kym’s brain cells. Apart from that, all the other team members safely returned.
We retired early (thank god I was too young to party in the 70’s) and lucky we did. As it turns out, Wilson wasn’t the only child we had to accompany home.
You dont appreciate how good it is to be home until you see how happy the little fella is in his own environment. When he got home, TK changed him and stuck him on his little play gym. He was so much happier.
Here are some pics of our travels over the last 24 (25 actually) hours.

IOS240 challenge
posted bystavHere’s the deal - We have to travel interstate for a good friends 40th. Wilson is just on 3 months old.Whenever we travel to Sydney, it’s like a stealth attack. We usually get a flight that coincides with a function start time, cab to the venue, get in, get on it, camp at a nearby hotel and fly out at a humane time the very next morning, taking nothing but allowable hand luggage.
The Challenge:
IOS240 (Interstate, Overnight, sub 24 hours) - Rendezvous with other family members. Under cover, travel to airport, check in via Valet check in, travel to Sydney with 3 month old child with nothing but hand luggage. Party, sleep, check in to airport Valet, travel back to Melbourne and be home before our mission times out - under 24 hours.
The rules:
Interstate, overnight and back under 24 hours with only hand luggage.
We’ve done plenty of these. We’ve even had same day missions (the most gruelling of IOS240’s). The only time I have failed an IOS240 mission was when I woke up under a table in a house in paddington 1 hour after my flight had left, without even checking into my hotel.
This is the first time we are attempting this mission with a 3 month old baby. Timing and planning are critical to a successful mission.

posted bystavBloody hell! I’ve had a few hangovers in my time but today’s topped them all. My good mate - “The Doctor”, had a wedding celebration last night. TK and I were lucky enough to be invited along.
It was great opportunity to catch up with some good friends and chew the fat, share a few laughs and launch an attack on the liver.
For TK, it was the first time in over 12 months that she has been able to let her down. And let her hair down she did!
We stopped at Mum and Dad’s for dinner (I reckon it’s a myth to put a good base down before a booze up, it’s just a whole heap of unnecessary bulk to deal with in the event that it has to come back up…..but anyway) and deliver Wilson for his first night without either of us around. After giving mum all the operating instructions (as if we needed to), TK and I frocked up.

Party time - when we got there, we met a couple at the lift that had bought their little boy along that was almost the same age as Wilson. Let me say, it’s just as well we didn’t take Wilson. When the lift door opened, we were invited to sample some of the good doctors hospitality. A waitress with a tray of France’s finest - “Don’t mind if I do” -I grabbed two. One to whet the whistle and one for a good measure. This was a theme to be continued for the evening
Niether of us remember leaving, but we are told it was around 3am. Neither of remember the cab ride home either. But we thought we were enjoying ourselves all the same. That was until this morning.
The thing about kids is, they dont understand the whole hangover thing. Kids Wilson’s age dont even understand the time of day.
As far as good times go, dealing with the day after with a newborn would have to be the closest thing I can relate to hell.

A dirty weekend - not!

Ruth’s 40th the other night. TK and I decided to make a night of it and stay at a hotel across the road from the party.
We thought we’d treat ourselves to one last hurrah before Burt arrives. Poor TK, she had to sleep sitting up due to indigestion.
I think we left our run a bit late.

TK is going amazingly well. Apart from the tiredness and some aches, she has managed to work all the way up unitl this week.
Amazing still, with just over 3 weeks to go we’re off to our good friend Ruth’s 40th. I’m not sure how long she’ll last but it’s great that she is going.
I’ll probably get dragged home by the ear but I’m fine with that too.
